Privacy policy

How we collect, use and look after your personal information, and the rights you have.

Last updated: 26 October 2026

This policy explains what personal information we collect when you use our website or work with us, how we use it, and the choices and rights you have. We keep it simple and only collect what we need to help you with your shutters and blinds.

Who we are

Unique Shutter & Blind Specialists Ltd (“we”, “us”) is responsible for the personal information described in this policy. You can contact us about anything in it by calling 0161 915 8009, emailing uniqueshutterspecialists@gmail.com or writing to us at 19 Hamilton Street, Salford M7 2EF.

What we collect

  • When you fill in a form on our website: your name, phone number, postcode, and anything else you choose to tell us, such as your email address, the products you’re interested in or details about your windows.
  • When you call, message or WhatsApp us: your contact details and what you tell us about your enquiry.
  • When we survey, quote and fit: your address, window measurements, product choices, notes about access to your property, and the details we need to invoice you and look after your warranty.
  • When you use our website: if you allow analytics cookies, information about how you use the site, such as the pages you visit and the type of device you use. See our cookie policy for details.

How we use it

We use your information to:

  • reply to your enquiry and arrange your free survey
  • prepare your quote, make your shutters or blinds and fit them
  • look after any aftercare or warranty claims
  • keep the business and financial records we’re required to keep
  • understand how our website is used so we can improve it, if you’ve agreed to analytics cookies

We will not sell your information, and we will not send you marketing messages unless you’ve asked us to.

Our legal reasons for using it

Under UK data protection law we must have a lawful basis for using your information. We rely on:

  • Taking steps at your request before a contract, and carrying out our contract with you: to respond to your enquiry, survey, quote, make and fit your order, and provide your warranty.
  • Legal obligation: to keep accounting and tax records.
  • Legitimate interests: to follow up on a quote you’ve asked for, keep our records accurate and protect our business, in ways you would reasonably expect.
  • Consent: for analytics and map cookies. You can withdraw consent at any time using the cookie settings link.

Who we share it with

We only share your information when we need to, with:

  • companies that help us run our website, email, phone and messaging services, such as our website host and WhatsApp if you contact us that way
  • the manufacturers and suppliers who make your products, where they need measurements or delivery details
  • a finance provider, if you choose to spread the cost of your order and apply with them
  • our accountants and professional advisers
  • Google, if you agree to analytics or map cookies
  • the police, regulators or others where the law requires us to

These organisations may only use your information for the purpose we share it for. Some of them, such as Google and WhatsApp, may store information outside the UK. Where that happens, they use safeguards recognised under UK data protection law.

How long we keep it

  • Enquiries that don’t go ahead: up to 2 years, so we can help if you get back in touch about your quote.
  • Customers: for as long as your warranty may be relied on, and at least 6 years after your order for our accounts.
  • Analytics data: for the periods described in our cookie policy.

After that we delete it or make sure it can no longer identify you.

Keeping it safe

We take sensible steps to protect your information, including using secure systems, limiting who can access it and only keeping what we need.

Your rights

You have the right to:

  • ask for a copy of the information we hold about you
  • ask us to correct anything that’s wrong or incomplete
  • ask us to delete your information
  • ask us to limit how we use it, or object to us using it
  • ask us to transfer it to you or another organisation
  • withdraw your consent at any time, where we rely on consent

Some rights only apply in certain situations. To use any of them, call us on 0161 915 8009, email uniqueshutterspecialists@gmail.com or write to us. We’ll respond within one month. There’s normally no charge.

Complaints

If you’re unhappy with how we’ve handled your information, please contact us first so we can put it right. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office, the UK regulator for data protection, at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The latest version will always be on this page, with the date it was last updated at the top.
